Marpol | StatutoryOil Tankers of 150 GT and above engaged in transferring oil CARGO between vessels must have a STS operational manual onboard not later than the first annual, intermediate or renewal survey after 1 January 2011.
Application datesAccording with MEPC186(59), Oil tankers of 150 GT and above engaged in oil transfer operations between ships must have a Ship To Ship operation manual onboard not later than the first annual, intermediate, or renewal survey after 1 January 2011.
Description of requirementNew requirement of MARPOL Annex I Chapter 8,
is not applicable for
bunkering operations and
transferring operation concerning fixed or floating platforms. STS operational plans must be approved by administration or a Recognized organization by administration.
- The plans must be ship specific
- Written in vessels working language. If this is not English, then an English translation to be onboard.
- Three copies to be submitted for approval.
